James W. Weis has founded and led multiple initiatives aimed at increasing the pace of innovation in technology and healthcare. James was Founding President of the MIT Biotechnology Group, the first MIT student group dedicated to connecting academia to the biotechnology industry, and is currently Founding CEO of Nest.Bio Labs, a shared incubator space next to MIT dedicated to supporting ambitious life sciences startups, a Partner at Nest.Bio Ventures, a venture firm that takes a uniquely international and holistic approach to developing, funding, and commercializing next-generation technologies, and Co-Founder and Organizer of the MIT Alumni Life Sciences Angel Group, which connects MIT-affiliated startups with alumni investors. James is an active advisor for multiple MIT startups, and has spoken on artificial intelligence, machine learning, biotechnology, entrepreneurship, and innovation at universities around the world—including in Mexico, Thailand, the Philippines, Brazil, Singapore, and Taiwan. In a previous life, James worked in investment banking in New York City, where he built quantitative models to trade financial derivatives.

At MIT, James studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and pursued a Doctorate in Computational and Systems Biology.
